We had a great afternoon with "our" salad man in Vendémian today. Last night's ceilidh did not exhaust me, so after seeing the musicians on their way at noon, the family and I went to Vendémian, where, despite the almost Arctic wind, we wandered in the garrigue and David identified more than 20 salades sauvages. (I marked pages in the book for each one we saw and tasted.) Then we added a bit of protein in the form of a tasty little bédégar (cynips d'églantier - Bedeguar gall wasp larva). It was supposed to taste like hazelnuts, but I think all the wild salad leaves I had been tasting for the previous hour had sent my taste buds out of whack. After the walk, we went back to the Moulin at Rocher des Fees for more salades sauvages, with olive oil, and dégustation of several tapanades.
