Katharine C: your tax euros at work

A visit to Strasbourg included magnificent museums, full of masterpieces of art (Museum of Beaux Arts), stained glass windows from medieval times, and modern & contemporary art in a magnificent
new building.  A tram ride took us out to the site of the European Parliament, which is legally bound to meet there for twelve sessions/year, each lasting about 4 days.  The building is empty for more than 300 days/year.  The security staff there must get lonesome ........

one or two offices had lights on.

The European Parliament is set on the water, on a stunning site, and is adjacent to the European Court of Human Rights.

Travel note:  there is a direct TGV from Montpellier to Strasbourg, which does not go via Paris.
(Route is:  Lyon/Macon-Ville/Besancon/Mulhouse/Strasbourg)
