Maggie: AWG's heart pillows

AWG-LR has a big heart

Some members of AWG, (Mary-Catherine, Cerese, Mariannick and Maggie),  accompanied by representatives of Cancer Support France Languedoc  including Cat Hartley and the association Vivre Comme Avant, made a presentation of two dozen Heart Pillows to the Unicancer service at Val d'Aurelle in October, le Mois Rose.

The Heart Pillows were made by Mariannick, Cerese, Susan Rey,  Peggy Fat, and Maggie.

Heart Pillows are meant to bring a bit of cheer to recently operated breast cancer patients.  The Heart Pillow, which is  made from 100% cotton fabric with a synthetic filling, and is washable, is designed to be placed under the arm to ease pain from the surgical incision, to help reduce lymph swelling, and to provide protection in case of sudden movements.  In the car, the Heart Pillow can be placed between the upper body and the seat belt to avoid excessive pressure on the sensitive area.  Each Heart Pillow donated is in a protective plastic bag, with a bilingual card describing the Heart Pillow and its purpose, and transmitting AWG's wishes to the patient for a speedy recovery.
