AWG held a splendid lunch to
celebrate its 31st anniversary
at Golf du Coulondres
in St Gely.  It was delightful
to see so many members, and
a few guests, present.   The day
was very sunny  (we ate inside) but
were able to visit on the terrace
before we sat  down to lunch.

Our collective thanks go to
Mary-Catherine and Rachel for
organising the event, and for
the generous subsidy from AWG -
THANK YOU!

Happy Anniversary, AWG, and
wishing you a splendid year ahead.

Katharine: Book Group meeting, May

Here's our Book Group, meeting at Rosie's, and giving a big shout-out to Karen who was
unable to be present at our friday meeting due to her broken limb.  Such a shame
for Karen, because it was the book that she had picked - Promise at Dawn, by Romain Gary -
that we discussed.   You can't see what is on the empty plates, because Rosie's
golden-brown brownies smothered in cream cheese frosting were demolished
all too quickly.  Yums all round!

Best wishes to our Book Group Chair, Karen, and looking forward to your return in June.

Maggie: Garden & Nature group outing to Pont du Gard, April

Editor:  photo credits Maggie
This is a truffle-producing area

AWG's outdoorsy group visited the Pont du Gard - a beautifully-organised visit by Sue Rich, group Chair.  Maggie enjoyed this return visit - after not seeing it for 40 years.

 A superb day out.
a short break to enjoy the gardens and the views

The group had fine weather - it was neither overwhelming hot, nor overrun with other visitors.

Katharine C: post-FAWCO de-brief and lunch

Photo credits:  Kim, Katharine C, Linda, Cerese

Our FAWCO Representative, Orla, invited AWG members to her home to be de-briefed on the
FAWCO conference and also to stay for lunch, which, in honour of the FAWCO conference having
been held in Mumbai, was an Indian feast.

We sat upstairs for the presentations;  after Orla had spoken, we heard from both Maggie and Linda, both of whom had attended the conference in Mumbai.  Linda passed around photos of the time that she and Christophe spent in Goa - calm, beautiful cows resting peacefully on the beach with them.

As usual, Orla's hospitality exceeded all expectations, and we were fully informed and well fed by the conclusion of the lunch.

Very many thanks to Orla for inviting us, and for Maggie and Linda's interesting tales.

Linda sent these photos that were taken in Mumbai:

Girlfriends in Maggie's room after the Gala Foundation night

Opening night in Mumbai - members of FAWCO Region 3.  Look closely at Linda's forehead - in India, a vermilion mark in the parting of the hair just above the forehead is worn by married women as a commitment to long-life and well-being of their husbands.   Right on, Linda!  Love all these saris!

Shades of the British Raj - Linda's ride in Goa is a Royal Enfield motorbike - a classic!

Cerese sent these photos from the lunch - thank you!
